Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has admitted he does not want to waste his playing career and is considering whether to stay at the club this summer.

    The 22-year-old, who was part of England’s squad for the Under-21 Euros in Slovakia this summer. Made just 18 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season, 16 of them as a substitute.

    In total, Elliott made 28 appearances in all competitions, including six starts, and scored five goals and provided three assists in 822 minutes.

    Last season, he played in 53 matches, starting 27, scoring 4 goals and providing 11 assists.

    “It’s just a situation that me and the team have to talk about because I’m 22 now and next season I’ll be 23,” Elliott said.

    “I don’t want to waste years on my career because it’s a very short career. You don’t know what’s going to happen. I have to reflect. And I have to see if I’m happy with what I’m doing and how I can improve as a player because that’s the most important thing.”

    “I just want to improve myself and be the best version of myself. If I have to move somewhere else, I have to make the decision and I just have to see what happens.”

    “Nothing would make me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, And I love the team, I support them too. But the most important thing is what’s best for my career.”
